The wine and food society of Clark County hosted it's 1st Annual Wine & Food Auction in the comfortable surrounds of the Pike Art Gallery on Saturday, April 21, 2007. The fundraising goal for our first auction was $5,000. We are proud to announce that we surpassed that goal and raised over $9,000. We are still calculating expenses, but our expectations for our first fundraiser surpassed our wildest imaginations. We want to thank all of our members and non-members for making this event successful.

Peter Echeverio put out a wonderful spread of appetizers and his lovely wife offered passed appetizers on a tray in addition to two beautifully appointed tables of delictables, paired with scrumptious wines purchased at a discount from Salut! Doug and Judy Smith seranaded us with lovely classical compositions on the guitar and flute. Gerry Spencer did a fantastic performance as our auctioneer, challenging folks to spend more and describing the items in such great detail. LD Torres Design did a superb job on the catalog. Many, many comments were received on it. Liz Pike greeted everyone as they came through the door of her lovely gallery and family members of the Auction Committee joined in helping with raffle ticket sales and bartending duties. Miss Clark County and Miss Greater Vancouver did a fantastic job spotting bidders during the live auction and passing out the catalogs when folks entered. The bottles of wine were gathered on two racks that people donated when coming to the event for a nice value in the live auction. The beautiful donated silk flower arrangement provided by Lindsay's Flowers rounded out the evening for a truly unforgettable event. Members of WFSCC were found pitching in washing glasses and helping anyone needing assistance. The Varsity boys of Camas Baseball rolled out the chairs before the auction began.

President, Dan Foster and Vice President, Sanford Jones, commented that everyone had a wonderful time and the exhausting efforts of the Auction Committee members showed a classy event that should draw larger crowds next year. All the items donated were first class and it showed when the bids came in. We'd like to thank everyone that donated to the auction. Stay tuned for our announcement of grants & scholarships as we present them! This will definitely be an exciting year!
