Sandwich and Wine Paring Event

Summary

On Saturday, June 23, 2007 the Clark County Food And Wine Association held a sandwich and win paring event at the Bright's Residence. This was a members only event not offered to the general public. The event educated everyone in the paring of sandwiches and wine. The members were asked to bring one of the following bottles of wine: Riesling-Australian was suggested, Syrah-something that is rich and lower intannis and Any fruity red variety, with berry notes to accompany salty flavors. Dorine Bright paired the wines the members brought with the various foods served. Members may login to obtain more photos and recipes from the event.

The Menu Consisted Of:

Deviled Ham Salad On Marbled Rye
paired with a juicy red wine, full of fruit to balance the salty, smoky deviled ham

Three Cheese Grilled Panini
paired with a rich, low tanning wine such as a California Syrah
Wines used: Lengs & Cooter 2004 The Victor Shiraz, Rock Rabbit 2003 Syrah, Shingleback 2002 D Block Reserve Shiraz (93 points)

Proscuitto & Grilled Fennel
paired with a red wine light enough for the fennel but rich enough for the Prosciutto, such as a Barbera
Wines used: Maryhill 2004 Zinfandel, Fiulot 2005 Barbera D'Asti Prunotto, Pleasant Valley City Red


Spicy Vietnameese Chicken
paired with a zesty Riesling or Chardonnay

Entree: Sun Dried Tomato Burger with Basalmic Onions
While a fruity Beaujolais was recommended, the Merlots, Zinfandels worked well at the tasting. Indian Pale Ale was also recommended

Deserts: Home Made Mango Gelato
Paired with Italian Limoncello Liqueur

Beverages: Wine Paired, Ice Tea, and Coffee
